What a magical day on Tuesday. The costumes were amazing, the parade was incredible and the food was scrumptious. I was so very proud of all the children as they managed themselves extremely well even though they were all exhausted by the end of it. Check out these beauties.

Winner winner chicken dinner
Rynie has won another prize for her writing. This time she was up against children all over New Zealand and in Year 4 - 8. She has done amazingly well and we are very proud of her.
Three Christchurch children have won the top prizes in the Walking Access Commission 2019 Top Outdoor Spot Competition.

2nd place, Akaroa, Rynie, Year 2, Ilam School
When I go to Akaroa, the water is as warm as the sun.
Me, my brother, my mum, and my dad go there.
The waves cover me.
I dived down; I see a penguin!
Her tiny tail is a rainbow.
Her name is Sophia.
She says to me “ DON’T LITTER”, so don’t litter!

Another amazing author
Hi Josie
Thanks for sending me your moon poem.
I really enjoyed reading it.
I loved the idea of the ocean! So imaginative. Your poem made a warm glow inside me. I love friendship poems.
I am posting some favourites later today on Poetry Box. I have picked yours.
Watch out for my new challenge in September 1st.
The moon challenge was so popular – it was hard picking just a few – so remember as a poet
I always know it is the writing that counts because there are always times when you don’t get picked for things (it happened to me last week!).
Ngā mihi
Paula

Let's Take Flight
On Monday we started our 'Let's Take Flight' intensive learning opportunity. We made passports and set the classroom up like an aircraft after morning tea. The children needed their passport stamped to enter. Once inside, they selected their seat and were offered an inflight snack before take off. We watched a Lego safety video. In the afternoon, we made Delta paper planes and had a "fly off" against the other Year 2 classes. Check out these photo's.
